MCW Events is all about making moments matter. And we’re lucky enough to be connected with some of the best moment makers in the events industry. Tiffany Cohen, our Senior Director of Client Engagement, has more than 20 years of specialized experience in event strategy and design focusing on high-end incentive programs.

How did you get started in the Event Planning industry?

Like many people from my generation, it’s something I simply fell into. I studied TV + Film Production in college and wanted to become a Line Producer. I made it into the business, working with MTV, Nickelodeon, and others. But I soon realized it wasn’t right for me. So, I took a temp job filling in for someone on a marketing team, and the rest, shall we say, is history? But I fulfilled my initial desire because event management is the same as Line Production. You’re moving many pieces toward a common goal, often under tight timelines and budgets.

What’s an event planning/production tool you can’t live without?

Gosh, there are so many tricks and tools that it’s hard to answer this question. Is it too much of a cop-out to say Google?

What was something you wish you’d known before you began planning events?

I wish I could tell my younger self to get involved in industry groups as soon as possible–groups like MPI, SITE, PCMA, and others. They’re invaluable for networking, career growth, and mentorship. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my friends and contacts. I wish I had joined them sooner.

What’s one of your favorite event moments?

This is like asking me to pick a favorite child (or ice cream flavor). There are spectacular moments in each event. It could be procuring the last bottle of a special request beverage in a country that wouldn’t usually carry it. Or it could be the look of wonder that spreads across someone’s face as they walk into Spanish Hall (at the Prague Presidential Palace) for an awards gala. Or it’s hanging with the band after a private concert in Nevis. We’re in the business of making magic happen, so it’s hard to pick just one.

What’s your favorite donut?

I’m a simple person when it comes to donuts. Vanilla cake with chocolate frosting.

As an event planner, attending more meetings wasn’t high on my list. But there are exceptions, and these events were experiences I longed for, somehow intertwined with my work.
